Casielle Santos-Gaerlan
Origins of Ube

May 17 - June 15
Opening Reception: May 17, 5-8pm

This exhibition invites viewers into a rich exploration of Ube, the vibrant purple yam that is indigenous to the Philippines. Interpreted through the work of artist Casielle Santos-Gaerlan, the show unpacks the ancestral origins and cultural significance of Ube, tracing its path from indigenous agricultural practice to its current global popularity. Each piece in this show offers a personal interpretation of Ube while aiming to educate, celebrate, and decolonize how we see this beloved ancestral ingredient.
