Karyn Lao is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY who explores the pompom as an object that represents community— many pieces connected by a common thread. Her work is a potpourri of colorful forms and textures, a reminder to find joy while moving through the world. She also makes interactive inflatable sculptures as ½ of collaborative duo, Mookntaka! Whether it be sculpting inflatables, creating fun jewelry, or crafting pOm•parties, the heart of Karyn’s work is to bring people together and connect through play.
